The DaVinci Code- Everybody’s Talking About It!

Posted in All, Controversy, In The News... at 5:07 pm by Pastor Bill

neil cavuto headerAnd what is so amazing, as much as people loved the book, the movie is getting some pretty bland reviews. Even the movie critics panned ‘The Davinci Code’ as a dark, dry test of endurance, much less riveting than the book. But it is surprizing how many critics are harping on the movies message…we have negative feedback from madcow to Neil Cavuto….Neil Cavuto- isn’t he the financial analyst for Fox News???? What’s going on here? He’s not a movie critic is he? Read his article here and find our for yourself! I think he hit the nail on the head this time, though he speaks more about the book than the movie.

If anyone wishes to learn the truth about the DaVinci Code’s wild claims regarding Jesus and history, there are several credible sources to find information. Check out the May 29 issue of Newsweek magazine, pages 50-51 for some interesting facts regarding Dan Brown’s claims, and see their review of the movie on page 52- not so glowing.

If you’re talking about the Davinci Code, good…if your considering the claims of Jesus Christ, better! ‘Search ye the scriptures’!

The gospel according to Bill O’Reilly?

Posted in Controversy, In The News... at 8:06 pm by Pastor Bill

In case you missed it, ‘The Oreilly Factor‘ had a priest on the other day to address the claims that are being made about the recently released gnostic gospel of Judas. Usually Bill O’Reilly engages his guests in a hard hitting, fact -seeking interview, but this show would have been hilarious, if it were not so sad.

For starters, the ‘priest’ which Bill chose as his guest was of couse of the liberal persuasion (which is as difficult to find as dirty needles in a downtown alleyway) who wasn’t bothered by the claims of the ‘gospel of judas’. I am not bothered by those claims either, but for entirely different reasons. Bill O’Reilly discounted the ‘gospel of Judas’ and so did his guest because it is not a ‘historical’ document. Unfortunately, then Bill asserted that the 4 gospels of the New Testament of the Bible were not ‘historical’ documents either.

While his guest sat there tight-lipped, Bill went on to say that no serious scholar or theologian views the gospels of the Bible as authentic, reliable documents. He off-handedly referred to the ‘many contradictions, such as… Read the rest of this entry »

The ‘non’-gospel of Judas…Revisited

Posted in All, Controversy, In The News... at 2:14 pm by Pastor Bill

Since my earlier post about the much hyped ‘gospel of Judas’ there have been some interesting developments and articles written about it. You can read the entire ‘partial’ translation here. There are also many more scholarly blogs engaging this issue, and one is a blog by Darrrel Bock, which you may want to check out, make sure you read both pages, here. The website for Darrell Bock’s commentary is beliefnet, one which is not recommended by me, because of their acceptance of every belief. They are not meant to be discriminating, but accepting of all ideas as mutually valuable and ‘true’- very postmodernistic and new’ageish’.

Why does it seem that around every Christian religious day (Easter, Christmas, etc.) that the news reports are full of ‘new discoveries’ that ‘prove’ that the historical record of the Bible is not true? According to a just released article run by Fox News , an ‘ancient’ text considered to be the ‘gospel of Judas’ tells us that Jesus actually asked Judas to betray Him so that Read the rest of this entry »

So Jesus DIDN’T walk on water?

frozen lake

Well, what do you know?  The ’scientific’ community has once again set us Bible believers straight.  They have cleared up for us the confusing idea that Jesus had supernatural powers, being the Son of God.  Thanks to an article from Science Daily, we now don’t have to wrestle with Jesus’ claims to be deity, or that His assertion that He is ‘the way, the truth, the life, and no one comes to the Father but by Him’. (John 14:6)  is really true.  According to the Science Daily article…
