And what is so amazing, as much as people loved the book, the movie is getting some pretty bland reviews. Even the movie critics panned ‘The Davinci Code’ as a dark, dry test of endurance, much less riveting than the book. But it is surprizing how many critics are harping on the movies message…we have negative feedback from madcow to Neil Cavuto….Neil Cavuto- isn’t he the financial analyst for Fox News???? What’s going on here? He’s not a movie critic is he? Read his article here and find our for yourself! I think he hit the nail on the head this time, though he speaks more about the book than the movie.
If anyone wishes to learn the truth about the DaVinci Code’s wild claims regarding Jesus and history, there are several credible sources to find information. Check out the May 29 issue of Newsweek magazine, pages 50-51 for some interesting facts regarding Dan Brown’s claims, and see their review of the movie on page 52- not so glowing.
If you’re talking about the Davinci Code, good…if your considering the claims of Jesus Christ, better! ‘Search ye the scriptures’!

That’s what we received at the Pastor’s conference earlier this week, hosted by Alistar Begg and the Parkside Church in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. It was my privilege to attend this 3 day event where the emphasis was on the church’s call to evangelism. We had 3 great speakers, Alistar of course who challenged us to ‘put the ball in the net!’, a reference to being productive, not just flashy in our preaching and witnessing. You will find a link to the conference here, in case you are interested in future conferences or downloads of the seminar in various formats. We were also introduced to 2 new speakers… Read the rest of this entry »

If you have been to your local Christian bookstore lately, you may have been overwhelmed by the amount and variety of ‘Christian’ books which have been produced and promoted in the past 6 months. Publishers know that the Christian market is very hot today, and rush to get as many books, both fictional and non-fiction, out to the public as fast as possible.
One would think that with all the materials being produced and promoted (and bought) that we would be experiencing a tremendous spiritual revival among Christian churches that would spill out into our society. Unfortunately, that is not what we are seeing. Apparently the ‘new’ Christian writings, for the most part, are serving only to boost the self-esteem of the readers, not leading them to sanctification. What we need are truly Biblical, God honoring books that lead us to self examination in the light of God’s word. I want to recommend to you a website that produces several ‘old’ writings that have been used by God for many years to grow believers into a lifestyle of Christ-likeness. You can find a link to it ‘here‘. They are the Mount Zion Bible Chapel, and they have an awesome minstry that is blessing thousands of people across the world. Read the rest of this entry »

In case you missed it, ‘The Oreilly Factor‘ had a priest on the other day to address the claims that are being made about the recently released gnostic gospel of Judas. Usually Bill O’Reilly engages his guests in a hard hitting, fact -seeking interview, but this show would have been hilarious, if it were not so sad.
For starters, the ‘priest’ which Bill chose as his guest was of couse of the liberal persuasion (which is as difficult to find as dirty needles in a downtown alleyway) who wasn’t bothered by the claims of the ‘gospel of judas’. I am not bothered by those claims either, but for entirely different reasons. Bill O’Reilly discounted the ‘gospel of Judas’ and so did his guest because it is not a ‘historical’ document. Unfortunately, then Bill asserted that the 4 gospels of the New Testament of the Bible were not ‘historical’ documents either.
While his guest sat there tight-lipped, Bill went on to say that no serious scholar or theologian views the gospels of the Bible as authentic, reliable documents. He off-handedly referred to the ‘many contradictions, such as… Read the rest of this entry »
