Deal….or No Deal?
If you’re a TV watcher you know this is the title of a new television show that gives contestants a chance to win up to one million dollars! The twist to “Deal or no Deal” is that you don’t have to know anything or do anything hard. You simply have to be lucky and know when to quit. At several segments of the contest, the host turns to the contestant and asks them…’Deal… or No Deal’? At that point they have to make a decision…will they choose to accept an offer from the banker, or do they want to take a chance on getting a higher offer. You can tell who has gambling in their blood, and who is afraid to take a chance. This show appeals to me because it mimics life! So often in life we must make a decision without knowing the outcome. Life is about taking risks and making decisions carefully.
One of the most vital questions we must answer is not ‘deal or no deal’, but “Jesus…or no Jesus”. The right answer to this question probably won’t win you a million dollars, but can win you eternal life in peace with God. The wrong answer will result in catastrophy…eternal punishment in banishment from God’s presence and grace.
I hope you don’t risk eternity by saying ‘no’ to Jesus… because unlike the game show where no one knows how much money is in the suitcase, scripture gives us absolute guarantees in relation to which choice we make regarding Jesus. John 3:36 tells us… ‘whoever believes in Jesus HAS eternal life, but whoever rejects Jesus will not see (eternal) life, for God’s wrath remains on him’.
