So Jesus DIDN’T walk on water?
Well, what do you know? The ’scientific’ community has once again set us Bible believers straight. They have cleared up for us the confusing idea that Jesus had supernatural powers, being the Son of God. Thanks to an article from Science Daily, we now don’t have to wrestle with Jesus’ claims to be deity, or that His assertion that He is ‘the way, the truth, the life, and no one comes to the Father but by Him’. (John 14:6) is really true. According to the Science Daily article…
Jesus didn’t really walk on water, which would have been a miracle that is impossible for mere humans, instead He took advantage of a rare atmospheric disturbance which would have created miniature ‘ice floes’ for him to walk on, out to the boat where the disciples were during a severe storm. It’s odd that in the past 3000 years of civilization living around that sea, there has never been an eyewitness report of ice forming on the surface of the water, especially the recommended 4 inches of thickness required for safe travel on ice. Why didn’t Peter mention anything about the ice breaking when he took his plunge?
Needless to say, this ’scientific’ report is one of countless attempts to discredit the historical eyewitness records of the Bible. Even if ice does occasionally form on that specific lake, the idea of Jesus using it to ‘fool’ the disciples runs contrary to the revealed nature of Jesus the Christ. For the truth of who Jesus is and what he did, take yourself to the written records of those who walked, lived, ate and travelled with him on a daily basis. Read the scriptures, because in them you find that ‘they are they which speak of me’…according to Jesus himself.
